Worcestershire LEP Annual Conference – Driving Worcestershire Forward
10thof October 2013 - The Pitch View Suite, Worcester Warriors, Worcester
The 2013 Annual Conference aimed to outline Worcestershire LEP’s progress against objectives set in 2012, report on the Four Key Strategic Objectives and present the LEP’s on-going development of its Growth Plan and its bid for European funds. The proceedings commenced at 8.45am and included the premiere of the LEP’s new promotional film, targeted at inward investors, as well as a special surprise in the form of a tap dancing act meant to portray Creative Worcestershire. The conference concluded at 1.30pm not before the highly-anticipated Tweet-ups.
An engaging morning altogether, the event gave the 300 delegates the opportunity to express their opinion in regard to current issues affecting businesses in the county via a live texting poll, ask pertinent questions during the two panel sessions and ‘wander around’ the event’s Virtual Exhibition. The proceedings were facilitated by former champion rally driver and TV presenter, Penny Mallory, who linked her experiences to those of a business and was the inspiration behind the event’s ‘driving’ theme and props (you will notice the tyres and chequered flags!) displayed all around the conference room.
“Throughout the period leading up to the conference [..] the LEP team has found your warm and approachable and above all professional in all your dealings. On the day, you were calm and unflappable and all your team members were similarly professional and a credit to you. Everything [...] ran really smoothly and this was in great part due to your hard work and meticulous attention to detail. You made it look simple, but I know that it relied upon the successful coordination and management of many different aspects.” Peter Pawsey, Executive Chair, Worcestershire LEP
